Miesha Theresa

Miesha Theresa Tate, an American mixed martial arts specialist. A former mixed martial artist, she competed for the Ultimate Fighting Championship and is a former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion. Born in Tacoma, Washington, she was very involved in sport throughout her childhood. Following a suggestion from one of her close friends, as she was in Central Washington University she began to participate in the mixed martial art group. She took on her first amateur fight at twenty against Elizabeth Posener who was a Muay Thai specialist. The following year, at the single-night event HOOKnSHOOT Women's World Grand Prix and her debut as a professional. Within two years she won the FCF Women's Bantamweight Champion the first time. Tate's fight style was centered around wrestling as well as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She resulted in a great deal of admiration and praise. It was a huge hit as she took home the 'Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion' shortly after. As well as her profession in mixed martial arts she has also modelled for several websites and publications including 'ESPN The Magazine', and 'Fitness Gurls'.
